Combat engineers from Combat Service Support Battalion Seven (CSSB 7) have been refortifying the camp after a suicide bomber drove his truck into the U.S. military compound, killing two Marines and injuring six civilians in December 2004. The Marines have emplaced sand-filled and concrete barriers, elevated watch towers, set concertina wire, and installed two steel-reinforced 14-foot high gates to better protect the camp and control traffic.
