Soldiers climb the stairs of the Ziggurat in Ur. A Ziggurat is a temple structure that was built to bring worshipers closer to their local god. The Ziggurat in Ur was built by a Sumerian king during the Third Dynasty. U.S. and Coalition Forces in Iraq are assisting in the preservation and protection of the structure by keeping it within the boundaries of Ali Base. Pic: Staff Sgt. Suzanne M. Day, U.S. Air Force
