I was Derrick's 4th grade teacher. I am proud of his accomplishments, but am sorry to report that he was killed in an auto accident upon his return home. Rest in peace.

I work on Ft. Riley where SPC Hinely was stationed. The Post is having a Memorial service this afternoon, of which I won't be able to attend. I did not know him personally, but it hurts all of us when we lose one of our own, whether due to combat, or, as in Derrick's case, a tragic accident. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.
