Cpl. Giancarlo J. Albelice, a vehicle commander from Philadelphia, attached to Weapons Company 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 5, hands out treats to children. Marines found time while conducting a census to pass out candy, cookies and other sweets to kids.

Staff Sgt. Carroll R. Williams III, a 34-year-old infantry unit leader, gives a brief to his Marines with Weapons Company, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment before a mounted-vehicle patrol near Habbaniyah. The patrol was part of the Marines' daily routine to rid roads of improvised explosive devices. Williams is from San Bernardino, Calif. All Marines are currently serving under Regimental Combat Team 5 and will be conducting operations in the Habbaniyah area.

Navy Seaman Samuel L. Blanco, a hospital corpsman, calms and bandages an Iraqi child during a combat patrol in Husayba.
He is a 25-year-old assigned to the Marines of Weapons Company, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment. He provides medical care to the locals so Marines can focus on their mission. Blanco is from Justin, Texas and serves under Regimental Combat Team 5 and will be conducting operations in the Habbaniyah area.

MAJ Mike McNamara (center left) and COL Larry D. Nicholson (center right) do their best team pose with Marines from Regimental Combat Team 5 with the baseball gear donated to the Marines by Seattle Mariners' General Manager Bill Bavasi. Bavasi is a long-time friend of McNamara's and sent the gear forward to Camp Fallujah so Marines could play ball in their off hours.
